MAIA
Maia was born and raised in Europe until the age of 14 at which time she moved to the U.S. Born to an American father and a German mother, neither who possessed adequate parenting skills, Maia sought the nurturing she needed from her German Grandmother, who was a survivor of the Holocaust. Maia's "Oma" prayed with her every night. She would place the sign of the cross on Maia's third eye and bless her.
Later in Maia's life she discovered from a living Saint in India that placing the sign of the cross on someone's third eye is a huge blessing and very powerful! Maia believes that her Oma's blessings set the stage for her spiritual dharma in this lifetime.
By the age of 16, Maia became interested in the works of Carlos Castenda. She secretly wished she would find her own Don Juan to teach her things she was interested in.
Years went by and the interest in shamanism and metaphysics came and went; but it was during the most traumatic event in Maia's life that it returned on a permanent basis. Maia's youngest brother died in a car accident on Palm Sunday morning, one year after the death of their father. Danny was only 22 years old.
Maia plummeted into a deep depression for nearly a year. During that time, she went on an inward journey and read everything she could get her hands on that pertained to spirituality, shamanism and the meaning of life.
She emerged with a new understanding about her mission in life. In 1998, several years after her brother's death, Maia entered an apprenticeship with a shaman and later joined a workshop through the Foundation for Shamanic Studies. It was then that her interest in soul retrieval work emerged. She went on to study soul retrieval with Sandra Ingerman, author of "Soul Retrieval: Mending the Fragmented Self."
At the age of 40 Maia divorced. A new interest in Eastern teachings entered her life and she became a student of Jeung San Do. She learned the art of disciplined meditation and studied the principles of the Universe, the Five Elements and healing mantras. When she felt " filled" with knowledge, another teacher showed up. Sri Kaleshwar Swami, a living Saint from India.
Maia studied hidden ancient scriptures and processes that would enhance her spiritual life even more. She traveled to India to spend time in Kaleshwar's ashram, receiving divine processes. After two years, Maia felt that cycle had been completed and she is now focused entirely on her shamanic practice, writing and teaching workshops.
Maia is married, has three grown children, a Grandson, and a Black Lab named Baron.
